Greenpeace uncovered a landfill scandal in St. Pölten

Out if sight out of mind.. but what happens to our waste when it gets collected? 🤔
Here's a troubling example:
🚨 Late summer 2024 Greenpeace uncovered a landfill scandal in St. Pölten, Austria at the “Am Ziegelofen” waste disposal site. In December 2024, authorities shut it down after finding untreated household and industrial waste as well as hazardous material dumped without proper cover or treatment. This threatened soil, air and groundwater safety.
Waste is tricky to handle, and mistakes cause serious long-lasting damage.
We need to cut waste at the source, reuse more, and make sure the rest is managed with strict oversight and full accountability.
If such a scandal happens in Austria in 2024 then waste is clearly not something we have generally mastered.
Change needs to happen and it starts with us and our habits.
